HOw I USE AI
Created to create
You cant replace humans. No matter how advanced a tool humans create, it’s like attempting to paint a picture more beautiful than the natural wonders of the world. It’s just not possible.
But what about AI?
I use AI like an engineer would use a calculator. It helps me write better and faster, but it doesn’t write for me.
It’s a tool I can leverage to be more creative or to come up with very rough lift of ideas, but that’s where its power end. It can’t replace me as a writer, strategist, organizer, leader, or creative. But it can, indeed, make me better and faster.

Within weeks of joining a creative agency, we were tasked with creating a global event — both the creative and logistics — for a $80B tech company. AI was on the tip of everyone’s tongue, and our response was to tap into the human side of technology. My contribution to this project was developing the theme and messaging, Human Intelligence, and providing copy direction and writing for the deck. The design and icons were created by a brilliant colleague of mine.

Tasked with creating resources for salespeople at an $80B global tech company, we created “record” albums highlighting various computer components, new technologies, and sustainability efforts.
These marketing pieces were interactive assets that not only explained the often detailed, sometimes confusing technical information but were also designed to be memorable and fun, not something a prospective customer would easily toss aside.
My contribution to this project was selecting the “record” theme proposed by a colleague, developing assets that mirrored classic vinyl record albums, jackets, and booklets, and serving as the lead copy director and writer on the project. - Led copy direction and storytelling for major clients, including Dell Technologies, Nutanix, Marriott, Goliath Ventures, Fastly, Jergens, Bitsight, and Owala.
- Developed event communication strategies and produced content for both virtual and in-person experiences, ensuring cohesive, on-brand execution.
- Wrote and directed copy for videos, pitch decks, and a wide range of marketing collateral.
- Collaborated closely with designers, strategists, and client partners to deliver high-quality work on tight timelines, consistently strengthening brand voice and audience engagement.

- Built foundational brand, content, and marketing strategy for an AI-focused technology startup with Microsoft Marketplace and AWS partnerships.
- Launched the full website, developed messaging frameworks, and partnered with sales teams on campaigns and conference presence.

Global Experience Design: Communications
Compassion International, April 2023 – May 2024
- Provided strategy and tactics to generate B2C, B2B, and B2B2C leads and nurture them to partnership for a nonprofit with 14 global offices serving 8000+ communities in 29 countries.
- Led communications strategy and content creation for a B2B event kit that generated 254% higher engagement than projected in testing.
- Developed product-marketing content for launches aimed at donors, partners, and field offices.
- Served as a key writer for sensitive global content, disaster-relief updates, and internal resource platforms.

- Functioned as the full-time content marketing manager responsible for shaping the brand story while covering full-time senior copywriter and editor responsibilities (edited and coached all in-house and freelance writers).
- Increased content production 8x within the first six weeks while maintaining editorial standards.
- Led product launches, campaigns, SEO strategy, organic content programs, and customer-journey development.
- Launched strategic processes and collaboration with Influencer Marketing, Events, Public Relations, Voice of the Customer, Customer Experience, and Employee Experience to magnify the brand story.

Canopy, June 2020 – November 2021
- Created lifecycle marketing campaigns that doubled app-install rates (40% ➝ 80% in two months).
- Ranked 25% of keywords on page one of Google within six months; 33% of traffic came from organic.
- Launched the brand’s blog, social channels, newsletters, and a 32-page e-book in six weeks.
- Built brand guidelines, defined voice and tone, and developed customer personas for a fast-growth tech startup.

Grace Covenant Church, May 2016 – June 2020
- Oversaw organization-wide messaging, branding, content planning, event comms strategy, fundraising initiatives, print/digital marketing, curriculum, and all campaigns for an audience of 5,000+.
- Managed a complete website redesign, department rebrands, and all print/digital collateral.
- Led rapid crisis transition of all communications to online channels in <48 hours during the pandemic.
- Set and adhered to the annual comms budget and managed print production and printer contracts.
- Promoted events to 10+ audiences with multiple personas.
- Managed comms for a database migration requiring participants to install and engage with an app.
